Bye Bye Bubba?

It appears we have decided to say Bye Bye to the bubba. JT came downstairs this morning and threw them in the trash! I decided since he threw them out to go with it. Normally he will put it on the table, but ask for it right back. But this time he went a few hours before even asking for it. And I would simply tell him that HE threw them away and he moved on. As the day progressed he would look more sad when asking for it, but only a few very small tantrums about not having the bubba, mostly centered around naptime (which he missed today) and after he should have napped. But no all out major screaming tantrums about it. I am sure it has alot to do with saying HE threw them in the trash! Its the first big decision he made. I still can't believe its going to be this easy. I mean seriously it was so easy with K, I thought for sure that JT would be the rough one. But no, he actually gives it up a whole year sooner than K! I almost gave in a few times throughout the day, but some great friends helped remind me I could do it, it was only going to be hard for a day or two. Halfway through the day when he would ask I would tell him and then remind myself if I gave in now, all this work all morning would have been for nothing. GO ME! I am so proud for not giving in.
**edited to add, John was very helpful in helping me through this too**

Bedtime came, he asked for his bubba. I said again he threw it in the trash. He went up brushed his teeth and hopped into bed! Not a peep about his bubba. Laid on his side and went to sleep.

This is J days before, couldn't be without the bubba.

And here he was tonight watching tv before bed. No bubba. What a big boy.

I really have to hope that potty training goes this well too! But I am not going to worry about that. J will take that step when he is ready, seems my kids are really good at doing what they need to when they are ready. K gave up her bubba on her own, started using the potty on her own after visiting a preschool. Both kids transitioned out of the crib with ease. The bottle was easy for both. The bubba is the hurdle I was not looking forward to at all. I just hope there are no spares lying around that I missed.

  1. Go Jacob! Go Mandy! You two did it!
Yes, search the house for bubbas. A few months ago, I found one of Kara's old pacis! It shocked me to find one almost three years later.
